Anthor sat astride the powerful white dragon; Gornath. They flew high above the clouds, and were a mere speck to the people in the cities of the Empire below them. He stared sadly down at them, his old eyes remembering the time of the dragon riders, the peace, as well as the prosperity. Me missed it, but there was nothing he could do about it. He turned his attention from the ground, back to the task at hand. He and Gornath had been given a mission, one of more importace than most any other thing. It was a letter, one from the queen of the elves herself. They were carrying it to one of the fastest flyers in all the land, oene who could fly higher, faster, and longer than Gornath himself. It was the white dragon's daughter, Rema.

Gornath's large, powerful wings pushed against the air beneath them. They flew both high and fast to avoid the dangerous magicians, as well as riders under the control of the dark, and evil Galbatorix. He knew who he had to find, his daughter Rema was one of the few creatures who knew the contact to whom the letter needed to be given, that was why he was flying, that was why he searched...

Sierra sat staring into a pool of water, looking as wolfish as a human could. Times had grown hard, and it seemed that everywhere people were starving. Well they were at the villages she had visited. She had just recently entered a pool to the world that contained Alagaesia, and it saddened her when she felt no wolves, or they were extremely rare. The few she had felt were hungry, and searching for food, and she could do nothing to help them. A soldier came up to her, and told her to move along, and at first she didn't understand a word he said, as she was completely absorbed by thoughts of wolves. When she did she stood slowly, and wondered where she should go. She started walking away when she felt an arrow hit a wolf. It yelped in pain, and Sierra ran over to where she could see it. A mother hunting for her cubs. The wolf was still alive so Sierra drew her triple blade, and attacked the soldier who had shot it, all the while growling in her throat. It wasn't long before Sierra had snatched up the wolf, and was running away at full speed. The soldiers were right behind her, but Sierra knew the ways of the wolf, and was able to lose them without leaving a trace. She looked up, and to her surprise she saw a dragon flying overhead, although she doubted the soldiers could see it. At first sight she knew the dragon was an enemy of the soldiers, and after leaving the mother wolf at her den she followed the dragon from the ground.

Anthor's years of fighting, hideing, and magic had given him something of a sixth sense about things. He felt the eyes of someone, or somethign watching him. He didn't know what to think if it, but decieded to look. He casted a spell which allosed him to see the same way Gornath did and looked down at the earth below. He saw a figure running and focused shi sight. He looked at the odd woman as she ran beneath them. He used his mind and said to the woman, Who are you, and why are you following us. said the man as he strung his bow and placed an arrow on it.

Gornath observed the woman also, but only after he saw Anthor paying so much attention to the woman. He looked down at her and said to Anthor, I don't think she will be much of a threat, she is only a human female ... I think, and besides, even most magicians can't do anything against a dragon and rider both. said the dragon as he continued to fly, but lowered his altutude and slowed his breakneck pace.

Sierra blinked when the human spoke in her mind. The only way she knew how to speak with her mind was with wolves, and that was more of sensations, smells, and pictures rather than words. So what would normally be an easy to follow conversation could be hard for the human to understand. She showed a picture of the soldiers, and them attacking the wolf for no apparent reason, and through it all she created the sensation of anger, and hate towards the soldiers. With her mind she showed another picture. One of the dragon, and human, clashing with the soldiers, and did her best to show that she preferred to fight on their side.
Sierra knew that the human would have a hard time understanding her pictures, and sensations, but it was all she could do. Sierra growled in her throat. This world was very different from her own, and was beginning to confuse her. Sierra drew her triple sword, as she easily kept pace with the dragon. She returned the large portion to her back after unattaching the smaller two. She smelled more soldiers nearby, and something strange... Almost like the dragon in the air, but slightly different.

Anthor looked at the oddimages the woman gave him and asked her, What are you talking about, I am afraid that I do not understand. he said to the woman as he and Gornath slowly drifted toward the ground. He thought that the woman was likely an ally, but he had to be sure. He held his bow at the ready, and the string was taunt in his hands. He said, "Are you friend or foe?"

Gornath landed with a soft thud he bore his teeth at the woman, but did not growl at her.[/i]

Sierra looked at the arrow calmly, as she stopped, then looked the dragon rider in the eyes. "You speak with your mind, but not like wolves do." Sierra said, her the accent of her home world. "You are obviously enemies of the soldiers I have seen, therefore I am a friend." Sierra looked towards a small forest where she smelled strangers. She growled in her throat, and readied her swords. "Speaking of soldiers, there are many hidden away in there." She said, indicating the woods.
Sierra looked at the dragon, with a look that said she was not impressed by his show of teeth, and that he could put them to a better use, and returned her full attention to the woods, where soldiers could now be seen by non-enhanced eyes.

Anthor looked at the strange woman and asked, "Who are you? And why have you delayed us, we have many important things to do. As for the soldiers, we are in the middle of the Empire, ofvioudly Galbatorix' soldiers will be all over the place." laughed the rider at the woman.

Gornath growled again, saying, You would do well not to give me that look again, two-leg.

"And how am I supposed to know that?" Sierra asked. "Most people recognize that I am from another world immediately. You are slow old man. Sierra gave the rider a look, and said, "I did not delay you. You did it by stopping." When the dragon growled at her, Sierra growled back, like a wolf who would not be rivaled for anything. Sierra returned her two smaller blades to the large one on her back to recreate a whole and said, "I am assuming those elves are on your side." She had never liked elves. They always seemed above everyone else. Sierra was slightly angry with herself for not noticing the soldiers were elven before, but it didn't really matter.

Anthor shot his arrow, it whistled through the air and missed her face by milimaters, he shot again, this time shooting in-between her fingers and said, "I may be an old man, but I am not slow and do not assume that just beause I am old that I cannot teach a kid like yourself something." said the rider with a dangerous smile on his face. Then he said, "Most elves are, but some are not, it would still be better to avoid them, it would be an unwanted burden." said the rider as he looked at the woman.

Gornath bore his teeth even more and blew a short flame at the woman when she growled back. He looked at Anthor and said, I like her.

Sierra found the whole situation to be rather annoying, and ignored the returned insult. "You shoot well for one who has obviously not been raised in the palaces of kings." Sierra said. "Few have much skill now." Sierra's compliment sounded like one she only gave out of duty, although it was true. If Sierra had not chosen to keep her face straight, then she would have laughed at the situation. Sierra looked at the dragon when he blew a flame in her direction. She didn't say it out loud, but her eyes spoke her thoughts, How do you expect me to return that? Wolves don't breath fire. Sierra looked towards the elves again. "If you wish to avoid them, then I would suggest flying off quickly." Then she looked at the dragon, and rider and said, "Before you ask, you can call me Sierra. Not 'kid', 'child', or anything else related."

"Anthor looked at the woman and smiled. He said, "All you needed to do was talk to us, not down on us." smiled the man happily. He said, "Sierra, hop on, they may be elves, but we don't have the time, cause-" was all the rider had time to say before he had to release an arrow at the soldiers of the Empire as they swarmed the elves, swiftly killing them. Then, less than instant later, the soldiers were swarming out of the forest toward them. He yelled loudly, saying, "Sierra, get on, Gornath, we have ot get out of here! ... BRISINGR!" yelled the man and the tall grass around them burst into flame. He yelled at the soldiers and continued to shoot.

Gornath roared angrily and leapt into the air.

Sierra looked at the dragon rider. "That is a fault I am trying to work myself out of. I sometimes forget that I am no longer in my own world, with rank and stats above nearly all others." Sierra was surprised when she was told to get on the dragon. Then she noticed the soldiers. No wonder I smelled them... She thought. Sierra growled, and moved as if to get on the dragon. As Gornath took off Sierra lost her hold, and grabbed onto one of his dragon hands. Sierra pulled one of her smaller swords off her large one, ready to attack any in her range. Sierra looked in surprise as something extinguished the fire. She smelled trouble, evil, and hate coming from a crimson haired man on the ground. Sierra wanted answers about this land, but that would have to wait.

Anthor frowned when he saw the shade standing on the ground where they once had been. He voiced hsi throughts aloud, saying, "Another shade ... this will mean more trouble, especially since Galbatorix obviously knew where we were. That means ... Gornath, you need to fly higher, much higher, Sierra, here, give my your hand, you can't ride down there the whole way." said the rider in a serious tone.

Gornath sent a ppowerful white flame back at the shade, who simply tepeported away with magic. He looked worriedly at Anthor, but said nothing.
